No Uganda safari is complete without a gorilla trek. Standing just meters from a wild mountain gorilla family — watching a silverback beat his chest, infants tumbling through the undergrowth, and mothers nursing young — ranks among the most profound wildlife encounters available to travelers anywhere in the world. Uganda offers treks at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, with Bwindi hosting the majority of habituated families.
Treks can range from 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on where the gorilla family has positioned itself. Guides and trackers are highly trained, and the experience is managed to minimize disturbance to the gorillas. Visitors must be 15 years or older, and anyone showing cold or flu symptoms is asked not to participate, as gorillas are highly susceptible to human respiratory diseases.

Lake Mburo National Park is tiny, but has a great diversity of habitats including acacia woodlands, arid hills, rocky outcrops, open and forested savannas, lakes and papyrus swamps.
